At Sugar Camp Farm we strive to bring you high quality produce while farming as sustainably as possible*. We are a very small family farm with up to 1 acre under cultivation at peak season. We grow a variety of vegetables and herbs for market, chefs and other local organizations. We are slowly working towards a no-till system and we’re working towards building and preserving soil biology, chemistry and structure to bring you highly nutritious and flavorful food.

Our farm is located in Ashland City and we are farming on East Cherokee, Yuchi, Shawanwaki/Shawnee land. We also acknowledge the privilege we have in being able to choose to farm and the dark history of farming in our country. We are currently in a process of learning how we can best support and honor those farmers that came before us and welcome ideas and resources.

YOUR FARMERS

We are Jesse and Lizzie, first generation farmers who started Sugar Camp Farm in October of 2014. With backgrounds in landscape design and forest ecology, respectively, and a strong desire to pursue a career that worked in concert with nature, our dream to farm was born. After a couple of apprenticeships, we dove right in and began selling at farmers markets in 2015.  In 2018, we welcomed our daughter into the world. In 2021 we moved from Bon Aqua, TN to Ashland City and took the whole farm with us. We chose to take a farming sabbatical that year as we also welcomed our son Theo and setting up a new farm was a lot! We are back in 2022 and excited to be practicing farming again in a new place. It’s exciting to get a fresh start, having learned from our mistakes.

We feel grateful to be able to share the abundance of this land with our community.
