CSA Week 6!! And update!!

Hi y'all!

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their veggies! We encourage you to email us if you need ideas for recipes!

Not surprisingly, we've been really really really busy! We have added Vanderbilt Farmers market to our weekly harvests
nd trips to town and have significantly increased our restaurant sales this year detracting our attention away from garden maintenance! We're cutting back on restaurants this week so we can get more done in the garden!

Since we last talked, Megan and Chris have departed and left a finished outdoor kitchen! Also our tack room is finished and ready to be a farm office space! We will soon be moving all our daily farm lunches to the outdoor kitchen in an effort to separate farm activities from our home. It's been a long time coming and we couldn't be more excited to have a home that is a refuge from work.

All the lambing is officially done. We have 2 little babies whose mommas didn't want them (this happens sometimes) that we are bottle feeding twice a day for 3-4 months. They're super cute and one o0f my favorite things is seeing Jesse "walking" them after they eat. He jogs around the paddock and they run along with him. He likes them to get some exercise.

Vandy Market has been really great to us already! We sold out last week! Which was so unexpected! We haven't had great luck with that market in the past. So we're really pleased to be doing so well there this year! Yippee! See our sold out picture in the photos below.

Not much other news. Just lots of weeding to catch up on this week, sweet potatoes to plant, and things to mow down to get ready for new crops.

So! Without further ado, here is what is in the CSA this week!

Radishes, turnips, summer squash, swiss chard, dill, leeks, fresh garlic, carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, and cauliflower! We may even slip in a little tomato for each of you if we have enough.

Really good stuff this week!

LEEKS!

I made this delicious recipe the other day. And I recommend adding a little whole cream at the end. Really delicious

Braised Leeks

Leeks are used in lots of recipes, while not always the feature, like this one:

Capellini with leeks and lemon

The fresh garlic was just harvested. So the papery covering of the cloves is actually soft and moist. Simply peel this off and eat the amazing garlic inside.

One of my favorite Patty pan recipes to recommend is this:

Stuffed Patty Pan

Hope this is helpful!! Please, email or ask us at the pick up for suggestions!! thanks so much for all your support!

Much love, your farmers,

Lizzie, Jesse, Rachel, Turner, Tony, Erin, Winnie, Stormy, sheep, and the rambin ole cows.
