CSA Week 8! And Update!
Hi Y'all!
Can't believe we have almost been together for 2 whole months! We'll be a third of the way through the CSA by next Saturday!
First off we are going to try and shorten the CSA pick up on Monday from 5:30-7 to 5:30-6:30 and see how that goes. We will plan to leave early if all CSA members show up early. Since we haven't heard from all of you then we will wait this week if you can't make it by 6:30. THANKS!!
Otherwise, Jesse and I are feeling nice and rested after a well deserved vacation to the beach with Jesse's family. We're soooo grateful to his family and so grateful to our amazing inters, Rachel and Turner for holding down the fort! After only being on the farm for 3 weeks, Rachel and Turner took on this task full on and did a fantastic job!!! We could never have left without them and can't believe how capable they have been after such a short stay on the farm. YAY!!!! Leading up to our trip, poor Rachel was out sick for 3 days, and we really didn't think we'd be able to go. But they made it happen!! WOO HOO! Check out some photos of some lovely veggies and a little glimpse of our vacay!
We've got lots of great produce coming out of the garden this week. We are saying goodbye to some of our spring crops and totally getting the garden in great shape this week. The weeds were SOOO bad when we got back! You'd think they could double in size in 6 days. But they certainly seemed too. Also the deer snuck in the garden and devoured our beans and okra. AHHHHH!! We are currently seeking a therapist to help us with our deer problem emotionally. Kidding. But we are definitely looking for ways to improve our current deer fence situation!
We will be back in full swing with veggies for restaurants too with orders already in for Rolf and Daughters, Husk, Henrietta Red, The Treehouse, and Bajo Sexto!
Without further ado, here is the CSA for this week!
This is going to be a great week for some thai cooking!
you can use the green onions, cilantro and cucumbers in this. Garnish with thai basil flowers!
I highly recommend playing around with the veggies. You can sautée leeks, with squash, eggplant, cabbage, and carrots to make an amazing red curry. And of course add the thai basil towards the ends and garnish with cilantro! YUM!
Finally I want to offer you a final turnip recipe sent to us by one of you!
